MLS suspends FC Cincinnati's Gerardo Valenzuela for two games

Gerardo Valenzuela of FC Cincinnati has been suspended for two games by Major League Soccer following a postgame altercation with Columbus Crew players after Cincinnati's 2-1 loss on July 25. Valenzuela received a red card for a hard foul late in the match. He will serve one game on August 1 against the San Jose Earthquakes and the second on August 15 against Orlando City SC. Both teams were also fined for violations of the Mass Confrontation Policy, following a confrontation that ensued after Valenzuela's foul. FC Cincinnati players Ayoub Jabbari and Assistant Coach Kenny Arena, along with Columbus Crew players Mohamed Farsi, Sean Zawadzki, and Max Arfsten, will also face fines for their roles in escalating the situation.
