Nürnberg defeated Hannover 96 2-1 on Wednesday to move to the top of the 2. Bundesliga standings. Julian Justvan opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half following a defensive error, but Lars Gindorf responded shortly after with a penalty kick. Mohamed Ali Zoma secured the victory 25 minutes from time, finding the net after a blocked attempt by teammate Piet Scobel. The result leaves Nürnberg with 13 points and marks the third loss of the season for Hannover. Zoma, who was recently linked to a transfer to West Ham United that did not materialize, scored his fourth goal of the campaign in the win at Max-Morlock-Stadion. Hannover struggled to equalize in the final minutes despite late attempts from Sigurd Haugen and Adam Markhiev.
