Mohawk Valley schools prepare for full week of fall sports competition

Mohawk Valley school districts have scheduled a busy week of athletic competitions from September 7 through September 13. The slate features girls tennis, soccer, field hockey, golf, cross country, and football matches across the region. Notable matchups include the Brothertown Optimist Tournament in soccer at Waterville and various cross country meets at West Canada Valley, Hamilton, and Herkimer. Several high school football teams will open their schedules with Thursday night games, including Rome Free Academy at New Hartford and Central Valley Academy at Jamesville-DeWitt. Administrators note that some events remain subject to change, as evidenced by cancellations earlier in the week. Teams continue their regular season play throughout the regional circuit with programs from Holland Patent, Whitesboro, and Utica-Proctor among those participating.
