Mohsin Naqvi attends Women's Asia Cup final in Dubai amid trophy concerns

Asian Cricket Council president and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to attend the Women's Asia Cup final in Dubai on September 13. His appearance as chief guest occurs during the tournament title match between India and Sri Lanka. The event follows a 2025 Men's Asia Cup final where a dispute over trophy presentation led to India refusing to accept the award from Naqvi, leaving it at the Asian Cricket Council office. That previous standoff stemmed from political tensions and public statements made during his tenure as Pakistan's Interior Minister. Although India enters the match as tournament favorites after an undefeated run, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has issued no official guidance regarding the trophy presentation ceremony. No protocols have been announced by the Asian Cricket Council to address the potential for a repeat of last year's event.
