Monroe County teams begin fall practices at 12:01 a.m

Several teams from the Monroe County Region kicked off their fall sports practices at 12:01 a.m. on August 10. This marks the official start of the Michigan High School Athletic Association football, volleyball, boys soccer, cross country, girls swimming, girls golf, and boys tennis seasons. To get a head start, teams such as Airport football, St. Mary Catholic Central cross country, and Flat Rock swimming held their first workouts at the stroke of midnight. Competitions for girls golf and boys tennis begin later this week on August 11, while other sports will see action starting August 19. The first football games are set for August 27.
