Montreal Canadiens look toward Brett Berard following trade with New York Rangers

The Montreal Canadiens added forward Brett Berard to their organization earlier this off-season. Montreal completed the transaction by sending defenseman William Trudeau to the New York Rangers. Berard played 41 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL last season, tallying six goals and 22 points. His 2024-25 campaign also included 13 NHL appearances for the Rangers, though he did not register a point in those games. The 23-year-old previously recorded six goals and 10 points over 35 games with New York that season, alongside nine goals and 23 points in 30 AHL outings. The team considers the young forward a candidate to regain his development trajectory following his move to Montreal. He remains a depth option for the Canadiens roster who may see NHL playing time if the team faces injuries this season.
