The Montreal Canadiens are preparing for their main training camp to open on September 16. Ahead of the session, players including Juraj Slafkovsky have returned to Montreal. During recent informal practices, the team tested defensive pairings including Noah Dobson with Lane Hutson, Alexander Carrier with Arber Xhekaj, and Adam Engstrom with David Reinbacher. Kirby Dach took repetitions on the first line in place of the unavailable Cole Caufield, while forward Ivan Demidov scored on goaltender Jacob Fowler in drills.
