More than 24,000 runners accepted into 131st Boston Marathon

The Boston Athletic Association has begun notifying runners about their acceptance into the 131st Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 19, 2027. Out of over 33,000 applicants, more than 24,000 have met the qualifying standards, while 8,019 applicants were not accepted. The organizers introduced a new selection process for 2027 to include additional runners through a random draw. Accepted runners come from 120 countries and all 50 U.S. states, with many set to run their first Boston Marathon. Remaining spots will go to invitational participants, including charity and professional athletes.
