Moritz Seider discusses communication with Dylan Larkin amid trade request

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider confirmed he recently contacted team captain Dylan Larkin for his birthday, though the conversation did not resolve the player's status with the organization. Larkin remains the subject of trade speculation after reportedly requesting a move following the team's 10th consecutive season without a playoff appearance. Seider, who served as an alternate captain last season, acknowledged the team is more competitive with Larkin in the lineup but declined to comment on the captain's future intentions. The Red Wings are currently without a permanent general manager after removing Steve Yzerman from his leadership role in July. Seider indicated that the roster is focused on training while the front office addresses the captain's trade request and the team's leadership vacancy. Larkin holds a full no-trade clause, placing control of any potential transaction in his hands.
