Mourinho questions Arteta's contract extension at Arsenal

Jose Mourinho criticized Mikel Arteta's recent contract extension with Arsenal during a press conference on October 11, 2026. Mourinho remarked that Arteta’s renewal, in light of Arsenal's achievements, should not be a consideration at Real Madrid, where expectations are markedly different. This comment follows Arteta leading Arsenal to a Premier League title and a Champions League final appearance, contrasting with Real Madrid's lack of significant success last season. Mourinho implied that if Real Madrid were to improve this season, differing treatment of managers might ensue, citing Arsenal's current trajectory as superior to Madrid's. The focus remains on Arteta's performance at Arsenal amid Mourinho's pointed remarks.
