Moustapha Thiam commits to staying at Michigan after coach's exit

Summary

Moustapha Thiam has announced his intention to remain with the Michigan Wolverines for the 2026-27 season. His decision follows the departure of head coach Dusty May to the Dallas Mavericks. Thiam, a 7-foot-2 center who averaged 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds last season at Cincinnati, is regarded as a key player for Michigan after the loss of their entire starting front court. Interim head coach Mike Boynton Jr. is working to retain the championship roster, and Thiam's commitment marks an early positive step in this effort. Michigan has until July 24 to solidify its roster before the transfer portal opens.
