MTSU coach Derek Mason criticizes officials after Jacksonville State loss

Middle Tennessee State (MTSU) football coach Derek Mason expressed frustration with the officiating following a 23-13 loss to Jacksonville State on September 26. In a press conference, he highlighted the lack of holding calls during the game, noting that MTSU submitted over 17 potential holding calls against Jacksonville State. Mason stated he had extensive discussions with Conference USA officials, indicating dissatisfaction with the officiating standards. MTSU committed seven penalties for 55 yards, compared to Jacksonville State's three penalties for 30 yards. MTSU, sitting at 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, will face Kansas in a nonconference game on October 3.
