Klay Thompson joined the Miami Heat on a two-year deal following a contract buyout with the Dallas Mavericks. The move occurs as questions persist regarding the 36-year-old’s current shooting ability after he recorded career-low averages of 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game last season. Mychal Thompson, an NBA legend and father of the guard, publicly countered criticism suggesting the shooter is past his prime. He challenged skeptics to leave his son unguarded on the floor to see if he remains a viable scoring threat. The Heat intend to integrate the four-time NBA champion into a roster already featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. The organization seeks to utilize his perimeter spacing to bolster its standing as a championship contender in the Eastern Conference.
