Napoli and Udinese players McTominay and Piotrowski scheduled for heart surgery

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay and Udinese midfielder Jakub Piotrowski have both been diagnosed with a benign heart arrhythmia. Medical staff for both clubs identified the conditions using wearable technology during recent match activity. McTominay underwent his cardiac ablation procedure in Manchester this morning following the diagnosis of a mild, benign arrhythmia. Piotrowski received his similar diagnosis following a Serie A match against Lazio on Monday. Both players are expected to undergo cardiac ablation surgery to correct the issue. Each athlete will be sidelined for a recovery period before returning to match play.
