The race featured a revised superspeedway package that reduced the spoiler height to four inches and decreased horsepower to 465. While some drivers like Daniel Suarez and Michael McDowell reported improvements in the ability to make passes, others such as Christopher Bell and Erik Jones found the car handling difficult and saw no significant racing difference. Brad Keselowski noted he did not notice the adjustments during the event. The race, which saw 41 lead changes and four cautions, is currently being evaluated for potential use in the upcoming October event at Talladega. Ryan Preece secured the victory in the race that ended under caution following multiple wrecks in overtime.
