Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart junior Nate Siler struck out 16 batters in a dominant effort, throwing a three-hit shutout to secure a 4-0 victory over Royal Oak Shrine in the Division 4 state semifinals held at Michigan State's McLane Stadium. Sacred Heart scored two runs in the first inning and added two more in the fifth with back-to-back doubles from Siler and Hank MacDonald. Despite a strong season, finishing 26-9, Shrine struggled to counter Siler’s pitching, only threatening in the final inning before Siler closed out the game with two strikeouts. Sacred Heart advances in the tournament with a season record of 37-4.
