NaVorro Bowman Jr. commits to play college basketball at UConn

NaVorro Bowman Jr., the son of former San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman, has committed to play basketball at the University of Connecticut. The younger Bowman will join the Huskies program led by head coach Dan Hurley, who has secured two national championships. This season at Notre Dame Varsity, Bowman recorded averages of 22.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.5 steals or blocks per game over 29 appearances. His father, an eight-year NFL veteran who earned four All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowl nods, is currently the linebackers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. The commitment adds another notable athlete to the collegiate, following the paths of children of other former 49ers stars like Jerry Rice, Frank Gore, and Terrell Owens.
