Nearly 100 countries have opposed a FIFA proposal to sell portions of the World Cup to private investors, which aims to raise over $4 billion through a new organization called FIFA Forward Enterprises. The UEFA, representing 55 member associations, declared that no teams will participate in FIFA events while the proposal is active. Following UEFA's announcement, CONCACAF, which includes 41 member countries from North and South America, also rejected the plan. FIFA President Gianni Infantino must secure a majority approval from member associations and the FIFA Council by September 19 for the proposal to proceed.
