Nebraska defeats Ohio 49-21 in season opener at Memorial Stadium

Nebraska opened its college football season with a 49-21 victory over the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday. The Huskers entered halftime with a narrow 14-13 lead before outscoring the visitors 21 points to eight in the final quarter to pull away. Freshman running back Jamal Rule recorded 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns, becoming the first Nebraska freshman to reach the 100-yard mark in a season opener since 2018. Quarterback Anthony Colandrea finished his debut with 275 passing yards and three touchdowns. The win marks the third consecutive season opener victory for the program, which now holds an all-time record of 100-32-5 in openers. Nebraska faces Bowling Green next week.
