Nebraska flag football program to launch in 2027

The Nebraska women's flag football team will begin competition in 2027, a year earlier than initially planned. The move was announced by the Nebraska athletic department and is intended to capitalize on the sport's growing popularity. The team’s roster will feature 16 players, including 11 transfers and 5 freshmen from seven different states. Home games will be held at Barbara Hebner Stadium, which has a capacity of 2,500. Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen attributed the advancement of the debut to new NCAA rules regarding player eligibility and confidence in the assembled roster.
