Axelina Johansson of Nebraska has been named the winner of the Honda Award for Track and Field, as announced by the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards on June 22, 2026. Johansson, who is also recognized as the USTFCCCA National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year, made history as the first recipient of the Honda Track and Field Award for Nebraska. She recently capped her collegiate career by winning the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championship in shot put, achieving a meet-record throw of 19.92 meters. Johansson is now a finalist for the Honda Cup Class of 2026 Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year, which will be awarded on July 27, 2026.
