Nelson Velázquez has elected free agency after being released by the Houston Astros. The team made the move to cut Velázquez to accommodate infielder Raynel Delgado. Velázquez had limited success with the Astros, going 0-for-4 in five plate appearances. He previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals this season, batting.205 over 78 at-bats. Though a minor league deal is possible, Velázquez is opting to seek opportunities with other MLB teams.
