New England Patriots face field issues ahead of Colts preseason opener

The New England Patriots are working to prepare a compliant field for their preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, Aug. 13. The team replaced the grass field at Gillette Stadium with artificial turf after a recent World Cup match. However, the new turf was found to be noncompliant by both the NFL and NFL Players Association, prompting another field installation. Patriots COO Jim Nolan stated the new field will be consistent with what players experienced last season. The Colts are familiar with turf issues, having previously faced a canceled preseason game due to poor field conditions.
