New England Patriots finalize initial 53-man roster and practice squad

The New England Patriots have reached the 53-man roster limit ahead of the upcoming season. The front office claimed tight end Cameron Latu and linebacker Darius Muasau off waivers while signing 12 players to the practice squad. Personnel moves included a trade to clarify the third-string running back position and the release of Ben Brown, who is expected to rejoin the team after recovering from an injury. While the team enters the second year of the Mike Vrabel era with a roster overhaul, local analysis identifies potential depth concerns at the linebacker and edge rusher positions. The Patriots have also scheduled throwback games for October 11 against the Raiders and December 10 against the Vikings.
