New England Revolution sign defender Joshua Wynder on loan from Benfica

The New England Revolution acquired defender Joshua Wynder on loan from SL Benfica on Thursday. The agreement covers the club through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season. To secure the player's Discovery Priority rights, New England sent $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money to Nashville SC. This move reunites the 21-year-old with head coach Marko Mitrović, who previously managed him during the United States' 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup campaign. Wynder began his professional career with Louisville City before transferring to the Portuguese side, where he primarily played for Benfica B. General manager Chris Tierney cited Wynder's experience in the U.S. youth national team pool as a factor in the acquisition to improve defensive depth. New England currently sits fourth in the Eastern Conference standings.
