New Jersey Devils select Alexander Command with No. 12 overall pick

The New Jersey Devils selected Alexander Command as the 12th overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft on June 26. Command, an 18-year-old Swedish center from Orebro HK, is the first center the Devils have picked in the first round since Jack Hughes in 2019. Command's performance improved significantly towards the end of the season, allowing him to climb draft boards. He also won a gold medal with Team Sweden at the IIHF U-18 World Junior Championships, where he scored seven points in seven games. Command's skill set includes poise on the puck and strong playmaking ability, though improvements in skating speed are anticipated during his development with the Devils.
