New Jersey MLS NEXT Pro team will play in Middlesex County

New York City FC II will relocate to a new 6,500-seat stadium in Edison, New Jersey, with play beginning in July 2027. The club, currently serving as the minor league affiliate for New York City FC, will eventually operate under a new name and brand identity. This team is the first expansion club launched under the Hometown Soccer Holdings platform, a commercial initiative supported by MLS and the investment firm KKR. The move is part of the $350 million NEXUS sports and entertainment district development located near Middlesex College. In addition to the professional soccer stadium, New York City FC will launch a local youth soccer program for ages 3 through 18 starting next year. The site will feature various amenities and sit adjacent to a 14-field youth complex intended for regional tournaments.
