New Mexico names four captains for Saturday season opener against Central Michigan

The New Mexico Lobos have announced their team captains for the upcoming season opener against the Central Michigan Chippewas. Offensive lineman Malik Aliane, linebacker Jaxton Eck, defensive tackle Brian Booker, and safety Austin Brawley received the leadership designations from head coach Jason Eck and his staff. These four veterans return following a nine-win season that resulted in a bowl game appearance for the program. Each player represents a distinct unit of the team, including the offensive line, defensive front, linebackers, and secondary. The Lobos host the Chippewas at University Stadium in Albuquerque on Saturday, September 5, with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on FS1 as New Mexico begins its campaign with a new starting quarterback.
