BasketballNew Mexico State University has entered an agreement to rename the Pan American Center to White Sands FCU Arena. Under the terms, White Sands Federal Credit Union will pay $13 million over 10 years for the naming rights to the venue. The facility will continue to host men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball, as well as special events. The deal starts at $1.2 million annually, with escalators increasing the cost to $1.57 million by the final year. While historical management of the center has fallen under the university’s Special Events Department, all proceeds from the new contract will be allocated to the athletics operating budget. The NMSU Board of Regents is set to review the proposal on Tuesday, with presentation duties falling to Athletics Director Joe Fields.
