New Orleans Saints name nine team captains for 2026 NFL season

The New Orleans Saints have officially named nine team captains ahead of the 2026 season. The selection includes three offensive leaders, four defensive representatives, and two special teams captains. Quarterback Tyler Shough, center Erik McCoy, and guard David Edwards lead the offense, with Edwards serving as the only captain new to the organization. On defense, Cameron Jordan, Chase Young, Kaden Elliss, and Justin Reid received captaincy honors. Elliss assumes the defensive play-calling duties following the departure of Demario Davis. Special teams leadership rests with long snapper Zach Wood and linebacker Chris Rumph II. The Saints begin their regular season schedule on September 13 with an away game against the Detroit Lions.
