New York Giants release eight players as roster cuts commence

The New York Giants released eight players on August 29 as part of their progress toward finalizing a 53-man roster by the NFL's deadline on August 30. The cut players include cornerback Ugo Amadi, running back Damon Bankston, and tight end Josiah Deguara. The Giants completed their preseason with a 23-6 victory over the Jets just prior to these moves. Head coach John Harbaugh indicated that further decisions regarding the roster are imminent. In addition, the Giants acquired defensive lineman C.J. Okoye from Baltimore in exchange for a future draft pick. The team will begin its regular season on September 13 against the Dallas Cowboys.
