New York Giants release veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton

The New York Giants released wide receiver Darius Slayton on Monday after seven seasons with the team. Slayton, the longest-tenured player on the roster, was selected in the 2019 NFL Draft and appeared in 106 games for the organization. While he totaled 4,435 receiving yards during his tenure, the team opted to move on following a busy offseason that included the signings of Odell Beckham Jr, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Braxton Berrios. The front office also added depth through the draft by selecting Malachi Fields. The move results in a dead cap hit of approximately $12.749 million for the Giants while saving the organization over $3 million. Slayton, who saw his role diminish under head coach John Harbaugh, remains a free agent.
