New York Soccer Journal launched after Hudson River Blue closure

The New York Soccer Journal, a nonprofit dedicated to local soccer coverage, was established in April 2026 by former contributors of Hudson River Blue. Andrew Leigh, who joined Hudson River Blue in 2022 and became its executive editor, sought to continue the coverage after its abrupt shut down in March. The new outlet aims to provide consistent coverage of NYCFC, filling a gap left by larger publications. Initial funding for operations was met within 24 hours, allowing plans for expanded reporting and compensation for contributors.
