Newberry College inducts late coach Calvin Triplett into Hall of Master Coaches

Newberry College has named former football and baseball coach Calvin "Dusty" Triplett to its inaugural Hall of Master Coaches class for 2026. Triplett, a 1974 graduate of the college, spent four decades coaching and teaching at high schools across South Carolina and Florida. During his career, he led teams at Winter Haven High School, Aiken High School, and Strom Thurmond High School. His coaching tenure included a state baseball championship at Strom Thurmond in 1982 and another with his son at Brookland-Cayce High School in 1998. Known for his early use of data and technology in defensive schemes, Triplett retired after working in adult education and died in 2019. The honor recognizes his lengthy commitment to high school athletics as a teacher, coach, and administrator.
