Newcastle introduces future signing Martinez ahead of official transfer

Newcastle United welcomed 17-year-old Ecuadorian player John Martinez to St James’ Park recently. Martinez joined the club from Independiente del Valle after the Magpies secured his signature earlier this year, although he cannot officially join until he turns 18 in May 2027. The club used a similar arrangement in the past, as he continues to develop in Ecuador. During his time with Independiente, Martinez helped the team secure the Under-17 title and represented Ecuador in the South American Under-17 Championship.
