Newcastle seeks Ibrahim Maza after missing out on Johan Manzambi

Summary

Newcastle United is exploring options after losing out on Johan Manzambi, who is set to join Aston Villa. Previously seen as a leading target, Manzambi's signing means Newcastle must pivot to alternative players for a box-to-box midfielder. One candidate is Ibrahim Maza from Bayer Leverkusen, who had a strong debut season in the Bundesliga and impressed at the 2026 World Cup. With a contract until 2030, Maza could be a costly acquisition for Newcastle. Curtis Jones of Liverpool is another potential target, with reports suggesting he may be open to a transfer this summer.
