Newcastle United withdraws from Dayann Methalie transfer pursuit

Newcastle United has exited the transfer race for Toulouse left-back Dayann Methalie. Sunderland AFC is now the leading contender to sign the France U21 international after reportedly agreeing on personal terms for a five-year contract. Methalie, 20, has gained attention as a promising left-back prospect and has been scouted by Newcastle, but they have chosen not to place a bid this summer. Aston Villa also expressed interest in the player. Methalie's impending transfer to Sunderland would enhance their squad ahead of the UEFA Europa League next season.
