Newport County completes summer recruitment with three deadline day signings

Summary

Newport County finalized its summer roster rebuild on deadline day by securing deals for Michael Adu-Poku, Kion Etete, and Matty Jacob. The League Two club added winger Adu-Poku from Watford, forward Etete from Cardiff, and defender Jacob from Hull City on loan until January. These arrivals bring the total number of signings under new manager Hayden Mullins to 15 as the team aims to improve following a narrow escape from relegation last campaign. The additions include a mix of Championship experience and defensive cover for an injury-depleted squad. Despite the influx of new players, the club must manage EFL squad regulations that limit the inclusion of loanees in matchday lineups. Newport currently carries six players on loan, necessitating selection decisions ahead of upcoming fixtures.
