NFL general managers vary in draft capital and team performance results

Recent analysis examines how various NFL general managers utilized high-value draft capital to build rosters during their respective tenures. Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles acquired four selections within the top eleven picks and seventeen total picks in the top 100 during his first five years. Other executives, including Jason Licht of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Steve Keim of the Arizona Cardinals, and Tom Telesco of the Los Angeles Chargers, also accessed four top-eleven selections throughout their careers. While Licht secured a championship after his early draft capital investments, other tenures produced middling records despite similar access to elite draft picks. Mike Brown of the Cincinnati Bengals also maintained access to top-eleven picks over a recent ten-year period, resulting in a 71-91-2 regular season record and five postseason victories.
