NFL teams plan league-wide 9/11 tributes for 25th anniversary

The NFL will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with league-wide tributes during Week 1 of the 2026 season. Scheduled between September 9 and September 14, every game will feature commemorative branding and ceremonies to honor first responders and military families. The league will stencil the phrase "Never Forget" in end zones and utilize specialized tribute coins for pregame tosses, with proceeds from auctioned coins benefiting related charities. Television broadcasts are slated to include anthem performances and stadium tributes throughout the weekend. Additionally, the NFL Foundation and the New York Giants, New York Jets, and Washington Commanders are committing $1 million to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. NFL Films will also release a documentary on September 9 detailing the stories of individuals affected by the attacks.
