NFL teams prepare to assemble practice squads after waiver claims conclude

NFL teams are set to begin forming 16-player practice squads following the expiration of the league-wide waiver-claim period on Monday at 1 p.m. ET. Organizations cannot sign players they released until the league distributes a personnel notice confirming which individuals were claimed by other teams and which cleared waivers. Vested veterans are exempt from the waiver process and may negotiate contracts immediately after their release. The rules allow clubs to retain up to six players with unlimited NFL experience, while the remaining 10 spots are reserved for players with two or fewer accrued seasons.
