NFL.com experts select Detroit Lions as preseason favorites for Super Bowl LXI

As the 2026-27 NFL season approaches, two NFL.com writers have identified the Detroit Lions as their pick to win Super Bowl LXI. Grant Gordon projected a Lions victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in a high-scoring 54-51 matchup, while Bobby Kownack predicted the team would secure the championship against the Los Angeles Chargers. Other writers provided differing outlooks, with eight choosing the Los Angeles Rams and three selecting the Buffalo Bills. The Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles also received votes to win the title. The Lions prepare to begin their regular-season schedule on September 13 at Ford Field against the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff for the season opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
