NIC celebrates 100 years, reflecting on its 1926-27 origins

The Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) marks its 100-year anniversary during the 2026-27 school year. A series of monthly features will explore its history, starting with the conference's founding in January 1927. Originally named the Northern Indiana High School Conference, it began with 13 members, of which only Elkhart remains. Many schools have joined or left over the years, including Mishawaka, which participated until 2020. The NIC is now composed of eight schools that have been aligned since 2020, contrasting the diverse original membership.
