Pittsburgh's Nick Gonzales exited the game after being hit in the helmet by a Jovani Moran fastball during the fifth inning of Friday's game against the Red Sox. Fortunately, Gonzales appears to have avoided significant injury and was able to walk off the field. He was treated for a facial contusion and is considered day-to-day. Jacob Gonzalez replaced Gonzales in the lineup. Gonzales, who leads the team with a.307 batting average, had been a key player for the Pirates this season.
