Athletics slugger Nick Kurtz will visit a hand specialist in Los Angeles on Monday regarding his injured right thumb. He had previously been on the injured list with a sprained thumb on July 11 but returned on July 25. Since returning, Kurtz has struggled offensively, hitting just 1 for 18 in seven games. He also sustained a left forearm injury from a hit-by-pitch but played the following two games.
