Australia’s Nick Kyrgios entered a treatment program that significantly reduced his ban.

Kyrgios has agreed to attend a treatment programme after the ITIA found he had use cocaine ‘during a night out’, which was therefore considered to be outside of competition

The ITIA ruled a three month suspension for Nick Kyrgios, reduced to one month if he entered a rehab program. Kyrgios can return to tennis on September 4.

Just weeks after facing the prospect of years away from tennis, Nick Kyrgios has been handed a stunning lifeline following a major suspension ruling.

Nick Kyrgios has accepted a one-month suspension under anti-doping rules, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said. The Australian gave a sample at an ATP tournament in Majorca in June which tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

Kyrgios accepted a 1-month provisional suspension dating back to Aug. 4 after he tested positive for cocaine in June.

Nick Kyrgios accepted a one-month suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Association for testing positive for cocaine at a tournament in Spain in June, the organization announced Thursday. The ITIA in its announcement said Kyrgios told investigators that he socially used cocaine during a night out before he was due to play in Mallorca, and after consulting with an expert from the World Anti-Doping Association, accepted that it was outside of competition. The ITIA said Kyrgios’ suspension is over Thursday pending the completing of that program.
