Delaware opened its football season with a 42-7 victory over Merrimack on Thursday night in Newark. Minicucci had a 12-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, then connected with Sean Wilson for a 12-yard score with 23 seconds left following a Merrimack turnover for a 21-0 lead at halftime. Viron Ellison Jr. capped a nine-play, 50-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown run on Delaware's opening possession for a 7-0 lead after one quarter.
