Nolan Fitzhenry commits to UND after 18-month recruiting process

College SportsNolan Fitzhenry, a forward from Andover, Minn., has verbally committed to the University of North Dakota (UND) for the 2027-28 season. Fitzhenry is the Herald's top-ranked U.S.-born college hockey recruit and chose UND over Minnesota, citing its culture and supportive staff. Over the past season, he led the U.S. Under-17 Team with 21 goals and displayed his skills with the U.S. Under-18 Team in international competition. His commitment marks a significant milestone, as he joins two other National Team Development Program players of the same birth year at UND. Fitzhenry will return to play for the U.S. Under-18 Team in the fall, aiming for gold at the upcoming IIHF World Under-18 Tournament.
