North Carolina field hockey starts season with two consecutive losses

The No. 2 ranked North Carolina field hockey team dropped its first two games at the ACC-Big Ten Challenge in Winston-Salem this weekend. The Tar Heels fell 2-1 in overtime to No. 14 Michigan on Friday after a goal from Sofia Ghanbari. On Sunday, the team lost 3-2 to No. 11 Iowa despite a 25-10 advantage in total shots. These results mark the first 0-2 start for the program since 2021. North Carolina now moves into a three-game home stand to begin September. The team is scheduled to face Penn on September 4 followed by a match against No. 3 Princeton on September 6.
