Northampton Town's chairman Kelvin Thomas stated that a proposed investment by a well-funded group is "pretty much agreed" and could be finalized by the start of the EFL season. Details of the investment remain undisclosed, and it is pending approval from the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator. Following a £2.995m pre-tax loss for the last financial year, the club aims to become debt-free through this investment. Despite the ongoing negotiations, Northampton has signed seven players this summer, including Matty Warhurst from Manchester City. They are set to face Leicester City in the League Cup on August 8 before their League Two campaign opener against Swindon Town on August 15.
